Our Association is composed of corporations that import and distribute dental medical devices and dental materials on their own account and that, in principle, act as the marketing authorization holder and carry out all regulatory application procedures for medical devices under the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act (PMD Act) in-house. Through these activities, we provide dental professionals in Japan with advanced technologies and information from overseas, as well as the latest developments in dental products.

Our membership consists of companies that fully understand the PMD Act, including the QMS Ordinance, and related laws and regulations, and are capable of ensuring compliance through their own internal systems. With regard to the sale of medical devices, our members conduct their business activities in accordance with the Fair Competition Code established by the Fair Trade Council of the Medical Devices Industry (certified in the Official Gazette on November 16, 1998 by the Japan Fair Trade Commission, and enforced from April 1999; currently the Fair Trade Council of the Medical Devices Industry) and with the "Medical Device Advertising Guide" (revised in February 2024 by the Japan Federation of Medical Devices Associations). In addition, by obtaining company codes and registering their products in the unified product code master under the dental industry's unified product code system, our members contribute to the smooth distribution of dental medical devices.

With the enforcement of the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Law in April 2005, the scope of our members' activities expanded from import and sales to marketing authorization (manufacturing and marketing). As a result, we regard it as our responsibility, more than ever, to introduce high-quality products from overseas to the Japanese market. This website lists the names and contact details of our member companies, and we hope that overseas manufacturers will find it a valuable resource for developing new business opportunities in Japan.

Applicants for membership are required to obtain recommendations from two persons: one member with at least ten years of membership in the Association and one member of our Board of Directors.
